Barman,
What is this clown talking about - "Pro-war or anti-war, however, both sides are the same in one respect: Death only matters when it happens to Americans."

This has never been the stance of a large number of Americans. Are we in the minority? - Absolutely, but type-casting is still an action of the ignorant.

I think it's clarified in the subsequent paragraph:

**It's a cliché of journalism: a single murdered blonde scores screaming headlines while "2,000,000 Chinese Die in Floods" gets a column inch under the fold on page 19. But chronically insular Americans have become so myopic since 9/11 that they only mourn their own soldiers--they don't even care when their allies bite the dust.**

BAR: In other words, 'those Americans who don't pay much attention to more than their own 1500 sq feet and immediate day planner activities'.

Not you, not me...all those other self-centered types...

Tone is non-existant, so I'm not sure that that statement was an act of sarcasm. Nonetheless, I'm not certain that the issue at hand is selfishness - I think it's an issue of conigition and common sense.

Our troops are occupying THEIR land - so, in reality the fallen Iraqis are the true victims, whereas the fallen Americans are merely a byproduct of our own evil government.

Of course, it's not as black and white as I stated and my heart goes out to every family that joined the military out of need or in good faith under the sinister deception of our leaders.

Ummm, yes, the winking smiley was meant to denote Sarcasm.

I appreciate your clarification. I think our viewpoints on this topic are once again not much different.
